Revanth Reddy welcomes Supreme Court verdict on Miyapur lands, targets KCR family
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday welcomed the Supreme Court verdict on the Miyapur lands, calling it a major setback for the previous BRS government and former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. Speaking at a press conference in New Delhi, he said the verdict had protected government property worth an estimated Rs 50,000 crore.
The Chief Minister accused KCR, his close relative Damodar Rao and ‘Goldstone’ Prasad of attempting to grab the land. He alleged that those involved in the deal had gifted expensive cars to Damodar Rao and paid kickbacks to KCR. According to Revanth Reddy, his government presented a strong case before the Supreme Court.
Following the verdict, officials have received instructions to begin the process of reclaiming the property. The government is also considering selling some of the valuable plots. Revanth Reddy said the proceeds could fund irrigation, education and healthcare projects.
“We will discuss the matter at the Cabinet meeting and take a decision soon. The Cabinet sub-committee on resource mobilisation will also examine the sale of these lands and the development projects to be taken up,” he said.
Miyapur lands verdict and plans for public development
Revanth Reddy accused KCR’s family members and other BRS leaders of attempting to grab valuable government properties across Hyderabad and Telangana. He said he had opposed the alleged land grabs as an MLA, MP and TPCC president. He further alleged that the previous BRS government had targeted him and sent him to jail for raising the issue.
The Chief Minister claimed his government had protected land worth Rs 1.50 lakh crore from illegal occupation since 2023. He cited several cases to support this claim. One involved 143 acres at Manchirevula. KTR allegedly tried to encroach upon the land with builders from Rayalaseema. The government has established a school for police personnel’s children there, he added.
Another allegation concerned IMG lands. Revanth Reddy accused KTR of trying to misappropriate the property in collusion with members of the Bhalerao family. He said legal proceedings had stopped the move. Similarly, the government won legal battles to protect lands in Gachibowli and Mamidipalli from alleged attempts by BRS leaders to take possession.
The Chief Minister demanded that the BRS discuss alleged land encroachments in the Assembly. He questioned the party’s silence on the Supreme Court verdict. He also reiterated his government’s commitment to protecting public land from alleged encroachments by KCR and his family.
Forest land disputes in Gurramguda and Jayashankar Bhupalpally
Revanth Reddy further alleged that KTR had tried to encroach upon forest land at Gurramguda. The government fought the case in the Supreme Court, which ruled in favour of the Forest Department, he said.
In Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, the previous government had allegedly handed over 400 acres of forest land as a ‘gift’ to an MLA who defected to the BRS. The present government challenged the matter in the Supreme Court and secured the land. Similar efforts also helped protect government property in Bhadradri Kothagudem district from alleged encroachments by BRS leaders, he added.
The Chief Minister also accused BRS leader Harish Rao and his uncle Hanumantha Rao of obstructing officials. The officials had sought to survey allegedly encroached lands. Revanth Reddy said the two leaders approached the court and obtained a stay order.
Referring to cases filed by KCR and Harish Rao over Padmalaya Studios and Lanco lands during undivided Andhra Pradesh, he questioned the BRS government’s inaction. He asked why the party had failed to take possession of those properties after coming to power.
Revanth Reddy alleged that BRS leaders had levelled several false accusations against the present government over land encroachments. He further claimed that KCR and Harish Rao later entered into arrangements with the same individuals they had earlier accused.
The Chief Minister also accused KCR of exploiting a dispute between two villages. He said the government was prepared to demolish the alleged illegal structures and build the Srikanta Chary Martyrs Memorial at the site. Revanth Reddy warned KCR and KTR against further attempts to grab public land. He urged them to change their approach.
