Pulivendula minor delivery case: Police question family after girl gives birth

Hyderabad: Police began questioning family members after a minor girl delivered a baby at the Pulivendula Government Area Hospital in YSR district, bringing the Pulivendula minor delivery case to light.

Officials said the minor girl studied in Class 8 at the Vempalli Government Girls’ School. Family members allegedly concealed her pregnancy and did not inform authorities or seek timely medical care.

On Thursday, the girl developed labour pains at her residence in Vempalli. Relatives initially attempted to conduct the delivery at home. However, her condition worsened within a short time.

The family later shifted her to the Pulivendula Government Area Hospital. Doctors admitted her immediately and provided treatment. The minor later delivered a baby girl at the hospital.

Police probe into Pulivendula minor delivery circumstances

Hospital authorities alerted the police after the Pulivendula minor delivery became known. Officers reached the hospital and initiated an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the pregnancy.

Police questioned family members to establish how the minor became pregnant and why the matter remained undisclosed. Officials also collected details related to her age, schooling and family background.

Investigators said they would record statements from medical staff involved in the delivery. Further legal action will depend on medical reports and inquiry findings, police added.
