Hyderabad: The Telangana government said it would complete the Hyderabad Metro Rail takeover from Larsen & Toubro by the end of the current financial year. Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao fixed March 2026 as the deadline on Tuesday.
During a high-level review meeting, Rao directed officials to ensure a smooth transition. He said they must strictly follow the agreement signed between the state government and L&T. He also stressed that the process should conclude within the financial year.
To move the process forward, the Chief Secretary asked transaction advisor IDBI to submit its final advisory report at the earliest. Meanwhile, he instructed L&T to extend full cooperation for an orderly handover of Metro Rail operations.
At the same time, Rao said the transition should not disturb existing contractual arrangements. Therefore, he directed officials to implement the plan in a structured manner over the next 100 days. He said this would prevent any disruption to services.
