CM Revanth Reddy promises to transform Palamuru into Telangana’s most developed district

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said his government would transform Palamuru into the most developed district in Telangana, ending decades of migration and neglect.

Speaking at the ‘Praja Palana – Pragati Bata’ programme in Mahabubnagar, he recalled how people once migrated for stone-breaking, farm work and daily labour. Now, he said, his dream was to develop Palamuru so well that visitors from other states and countries would make it a compulsory stop during Telangana tours.

During the programme, the Chief Minister inaugurated development works worth over ₹1,000 crore. He said earlier governments highlighted Palamuru’s poverty to seek grants, which he described as deeply painful. However, his government had started resolving issues pending for more than 10 years.

According to Revanth Reddy, lack of irrigation and education caused Palamuru’s backwardness. Therefore, the government gave top priority to these sectors. He added that ensuring funds for students was his personal responsibility.

Palamuru development centred on irrigation and education

Reiterating the Palamuru development agenda, the Chief Minister said the government would complete pending works under the Palamuru–Rangareddy, SLBC, Jurala and RDS projects. It would also resolve all pending rehabilitation and resettlement issues.

He alleged that no new irrigation project received approval in the last 10 years, apart from those sanctioned in the undivided state. Projects such as Bheema, Nettampadu, Koilsagar, Jurala and Kalwakurthy remained incomplete during that period.

After coming to power, the government released funds for land acquisition at Udandapur, Sangambanda and Kalwakurthy. In addition, it sanctioned ₹1,500 crore for the Makthal–Narayanpet–Kodangal lift irrigation scheme and paid full compensation to 96 per cent of affected farmers.

Concluding his speech, Revanth Reddy said illiteracy and poverty were his real enemies. He said he would not tolerate harm to students or injustice to women. Calling for collective effort beyond politics, he urged all sections to work together for Palamuru’s development.
