Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Mahesh Kumar Goud confirmed that a closed-door Congress ministers meeting took place, triggering political discussion within the party.
The confirmation came amid speculation over a late-night meeting involving four senior Congress ministers. Notably, the meeting was held while Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was on a foreign tour. Party circles described the development as politically sensitive.
The Congress ministers meeting reportedly lasted for nearly three hours. According to sources, the ministers discussed recent political developments and internal concerns. However, no official statement was issued on the agenda of the meeting.
The meeting took place after the ‘At Home’ programme at Lok Bhavan on Sunday. Following the event, ministers Sridhar Babu, Adluri Laxman, and Uttam Kumar Reddy travelled together in a single car to Public Bhavan, the official residence of Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka.
The gathering gained significance as all the ministers present were seen as politically affected by recent developments involving the Chief Minister. This aspect added to speculation within party and media circles.
Congress ministers meeting followed Bhatti’s media remarks
The background to the Congress ministers meeting includes the recent controversy surrounding the alleged coal scam. Several reports targeting Bhatti Vikramarka were published in this context. Political circles claimed that Revanth Reddy was behind these reports.
Bhatti Vikramarka publicly echoed similar allegations during a media interaction. He suggested that attempts were being made to politically target him through motivated stories.
Soon after these remarks, the closed-door meeting of ministers took place. This sequence of events led to multiple questions about the intent and timing of the gathering. Party observers noted that the ministers present were all perceived as being adversely impacted by the Chief Minister’s political stance.
The confirmation by the PCC chief has brought the issue into sharper focus. However, Congress leadership has not disclosed whether the meeting would have any organisational or political fallout in the coming days.
