Chennur Municipality development projects worth ₹85 crore announced ahead of polls

Hyderabad: Labour and Mines Minister G. Vivek Venkatswamy announced development projects worth over ₹85 crore for Chennur Municipality on Tuesday, ahead of the upcoming municipal elections.

Addressing residents at Marwadi Bhavan in Chennur town, the Minister said the initiatives aimed at ensuring all-round development. He added that recent works had already improved infrastructure and strengthened local business activity.

Dr. Vivek assured residents that officials would address civic issues raised during the interaction. He said the government remained committed to resolving local problems without delay.

Recalling his first visit to Chennur, the Minister said the town earlier lacked basic amenities. He noted that auto-rickshaws charged as much as ₹200 to reach interior wards due to poor roads.

After his election, the government laid cement concrete roads and constructed side drains in every ward. According to him, these measures significantly improved mobility and access.

Chennur Municipality development includes Godavari water project

Dr. Vivek said development works worth ₹40 crore were currently underway in Chennur. These projects aim to meet the growing civic needs of the municipality.

In addition, he announced a ₹45 crore project to bring Godavari water to Chennur. The scheme is expected to provide a stable drinking water supply for the next 15 years.

The Minister said the water project would address long-standing shortages and support future population growth. He added that planning focused on long-term sustainability.

During his address, Dr. Vivek spoke about his association with the Marwadi community. He said his early business ventures involved Marwadi partners who instilled values of discipline and thrift.

He urged members of the community to support Congress candidates in the forthcoming municipal elections. At the same time, he invited residents to suggest ideas for improving the town’s development roadmap.

Dr. Vivek also said he had sought additional funds for the Chennur Assembly constituency during a recent Cabinet meeting. According to him, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy responded positively.

He added that the government planned enhanced allocations for the 2027 Pushkaralu. The Minister said the event would be organised on a large scale, similar to the Medaram Jathara.
