Hyderabad: Telangana is charting a structured roadmap to achieve global logistics hub status by 2047, IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu said on Thursday.
Addressing the Transport Logistic India 2026 conference organised by Messe München India at the Jio World Convention Centre, the Minister outlined a long-term strategy to build a future-ready logistics ecosystem. He said the sector would anchor the State’s development vision under the Telangana Rising 2047 framework.
Sridhar Babu stated that Telangana aims to raise its contribution to India’s GDP from about 5% to 10% by 2047. He aligned this target with the broader ambition of building a $3-trillion State economy. Moreover, he said policymakers are factoring in global supply-chain realignment, artificial intelligence-driven logistics and sustainability transitions while designing reforms.
Infrastructure push to secure global logistics hub status
The Minister emphasised that Telangana will leverage its strategic geographic location to strengthen competitiveness. Therefore, the government plans to expand physical infrastructure and deepen digital integration across supply chains.
Key initiatives include the Regional Ring Road, Metro Rail Phase-II, proposed new airports and the development of a dry port. In addition, the government intends to roll out Telangana Logistics Policy 2.0 and establish dedicated logistics parks in multiple districts.
Sridhar Babu also stressed the importance of workforce development. He said the State is partnering with Young India Skills University and industry stakeholders to create a trained talent pool for emerging logistics segments. Furthermore, specialised training will address automation, warehousing technology and multimodal transport systems.
Inviting investments, the Minister called for participation in multi-modal logistics hubs, rail-linked infrastructure, air cargo facilities and cold-chain networks. He also encouraged investments in Grade-A warehousing, digital logistics platforms and green mobility solutions.
He assured investors of faster approvals, transparent policies and a stable regulatory framework. Consequently, he expressed confidence that Telangana will steadily move towards becoming a global logistics hub by 2047.
