Goa: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant inaugurated several AIIA Goa facilities on International Women’s Day and announced plans to expand the institute’s campus with major research infrastructure.
Sawant said the state government would allot an additional 50 acres of land to the institute. The expansion will support a Cancer Research Centre, Central Research Laboratories, a pharmacy unit, and other advanced facilities.
The event took place at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) Goa. Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush Prataprao Jadhav attended the ceremony along with senior officials and faculty members.
Sawant said the institute already reserved 50% of its 100 undergraduate seats for Goan students. He added that the new AIIA Goa facilities would strengthen patient care and expand access to specialised Ayurvedic treatments.
Prataprao Jadhav said the Union government continued to strengthen Ayurveda infrastructure nationwide. He said the new facilities would promote integrative healthcare and support holistic treatment methods.
Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha said Ayurveda had gained growing global recognition. He noted that AIIA played a key role in advancing education, research, and patient care in traditional medicine.
New AIIA Goa facilities expand specialised treatment services
The newly inaugurated AIIA Goa facilities include the Sushruta OT Complex, a modern surgical centre designed for Ayurvedic surgical procedures.
The institute also opened a physiotherapy unit to support rehabilitation and therapeutic care for patients recovering from injuries or illness.
A Kaumarbhritya Panchakarma Unit will provide specialised Ayurvedic therapies for children and promote holistic paediatric healthcare.
In addition, the institute launched a Bone Mineral Density unit to help detect and manage osteoporosis and other bone-related conditions at an early stage.
AIIA Director (I/C) Prof. P. K. Prajapati said the facilities would strengthen patient-centred Ayurvedic healthcare services. Dean Prof. Sujata Kadam added that the units would also improve clinical training and research opportunities for students and scholars.
