Sridhar Babu assures advocates protection measures in Telangana

Hyderabad: The advocates protection measures in Telangana will ensure the safety and dignity of legal professionals, said Duddilla Sridhar Babu.

He made these remarks while replying to the Telangana Advocates Protection Bill in the Assembly.

Advocates protection measures focus on inclusion

Sridhar Babu said the government prioritised social justice through measurable steps. He highlighted representation for backward and marginalised communities in legal appointments.

Out of 414 Public Prosecutors, 126 belong to BC communities, 59 to SCs and 25 to STs.

Among Assistant Public Prosecutors, 37 are from BCs, 16 from SCs, three from STs and one from a minority community.

He said these figures reflect an inclusive approach under the advocates protection measures.

Welfare and infrastructure support

The Minister said the government has introduced welfare schemes for advocates. These include insurance coverage and health cards.

He also announced plans to build dedicated Bar Association halls for women advocates.

Under the “Nyaya Nirman” initiative, the government will improve legal infrastructure and basic facilities.

He thanked members of the Assembly for supporting the Bill. He said the legislation will strengthen protection, welfare and institutional support for advocates across Telangana.
