BRS land grabbing allegations trigger dharma yuddham call

Hyderabad: BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan on Tuesday alleged large-scale land encroachments and called for a “dharma yuddham” against what he described as a land mafia operating with official support.

He demanded the immediate release of BRS leaders, including T. Harish Rao, Savita Indra Reddy and Dayakar Rao. He warned that party workers would mobilise and lay siege to the location where Harish Rao is held if authorities fail to act.

Sravan alleged that organised groups targeted vacant lands across Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Malkajgiri. According to him, these groups used forged documents and ignored court orders to seize properties with official backing. As a result, he warned landowners near the proposed Future City project to remain alert.

Nadargul case highlights BRS land grabbing allegations

The allegations centred on a 373-acre land parcel in Nadargul, identified as Survey No. 613. Sravan said the Andhra Pradesh Land Reforms Act, 1974 required the land to vest with the government. However, private individuals allegedly occupied the land through illegal means.

Authorities later allocated the land to TSIIC, while the RDO classified it as government land. Moreover, the High Court, in a 2020 judgment, confirmed the land’s status. Although a case remains pending before the Supreme Court, the High Court order continues to operate.

Despite this, individuals allegedly fenced the land and began construction using forged records. Therefore, the case reflected serious violations of law, he claimed.

Sravan further alleged that ministers and senior officials facilitated encroachments instead of preventing them. He claimed vested interests targeted land worth thousands of crores in areas such as Manasa Hills, Vattinagulapalli and Nadargul.

Groups involved allegedly threatened farmers and carried out attacks to seize land. In addition, funds generated from such activities were allegedly diverted to elections in other states.

He questioned the silence of Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy and Ponnam Prabhakar. He also alleged that officials, including collectors, RDOs and MROs, took part and should face criminal investigation.

Sravan demanded strict legal action against those who created forged documents and cheated landowners. He called for the removal of Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy and sought cases under the Land Grabbing Act against those responsible.

He said the issue indicated alleged collusion between the government and officials. He added that governance institutions were under strain and warned of risks to future land ownership.

Reiterating his stance, he said the BRS would continue its agitation to protect public and private lands.
