New Delhi: The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy showcased India’s hydrogen startup ecosystem at a one-day exhibition. The event aimed to promote innovation and collaboration in green hydrogen technologies.
The exhibition brought together 18 startups. These startups worked across different segments of the hydrogen value chain. Their focus areas included electrolyser technologies, fuel cells, biomass-based hydrogen production, and digital solutions.
Hydrogen startup ecosystem gains momentum
The hydrogen startup ecosystem in India has been expanding steadily. According to the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, there were 249 hydrogen-related startups as of September 2025.
Moreover, the exhibition highlighted diverse participation. It included startups working on hydrogen production, applications, safety systems, and drone technologies. In addition, some startups focused on hydrogen-based cooking and bio-hydrogen solutions.
Ajay Sood attended the event. He interacted with founders and reviewed their innovations. Senior officials and industry stakeholders were also present.
Furthermore, the government has introduced funding support. Under a dedicated scheme, ₹100 crore has been allocated for startup pilot projects. Each selected startup can receive up to ₹5 crore.
Following this, 111 applications were received. Out of these, 58 startups were shortlisted for evaluation. The final results are expected soon.
Earlier, a similar exhibition was held in September 2025. Therefore, this event builds on previous efforts to strengthen innovation in hydrogen technologies.
Overall, the initiative reflects India’s focus on building a strong hydrogen ecosystem. It also supports the country’s transition towards clean energy.
