Telangana workers welfare highlighted in May Day message by Vivek

Hyderabad: Labour Minister Dr. G Vivek Venkatswamy on Thursday highlighted Telangana workers welfare as a priority while extending May Day greetings.

In his message, he said the Congress government remained committed to protecting workers’ rights. He added that both organised and unorganised sectors were receiving attention.

The Minister said the government introduced the Telangana Gig and Platform-Based Workers Welfare Act, 2026. According to him, the law would provide legal protection and recognition to over 4 lakh workers.

He also pointed to measures taken for RTC employees. The government addressed most of their demands and announced an 11% pay hike.

Telangana workers welfare strengthened through new measures

Vivek Venkatswamy said the government aimed to ensure dignity and safety for workers. He added that efforts were ongoing to create a secure working environment across sectors.

He described workers as the backbone of development in Telangana. Therefore, he stressed the need to prioritise their welfare and rights.

The Minister said the government followed the ideals of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. He also referred to Kaka Venkatswamy for his contributions to labour rights.

He reiterated that the administration would continue focusing on worker welfare policies. Moreover, he said future initiatives would strengthen protections and benefits.

The Minister extended greetings to workers across Telangana, India, and the world. He said the government would remain committed to their welfare.
