Hyderabad: BRS MLC Dr. Sravan Dasoju demanded a CBI probe into the HYDRAA mining scam and sought immediate dismissal of Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy over alleged illegal mining activities.
He made the demand during a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Tuesday. He alleged large-scale irregularities and accused authorities of shielding those involved in illegal mining operations.
Sravan Dasoju questioned HYDRAA officials over a change in their statement regarding action against a stone crusher unit. He said the agency initially claimed action against a unit linked to the minister. However, it later denied the ownership link within hours.
He alleged that such developments raised concerns about possible pressure on officials. Therefore, he demanded accountability from the HYDRAA Commissioner and other authorities.
The BRS leader also accused district officials and regulatory bodies of failing to act. He questioned the role of the Collector, RDO, pollution control authorities and police in preventing illegal mining.
HYDRAA mining scam allegations target officials and delays
Sravan Dasoju said complaints regarding illegal mining were raised earlier. He claimed authorities delayed action for nearly 60 days despite prior alerts from party leaders.
He alleged that the delay enabled large-scale extraction of natural resources. In addition, he accused the government of ignoring violations linked to other private entities near the Outer Ring Road.
He further claimed that illegal advertisements and unsafe mining practices continued without enforcement action. As a result, he alleged that regulatory systems failed to protect public resources.
The BRS leader demanded criminal cases against officials who allegedly allowed such activities. He also sought recovery of alleged losses to the state exchequer.
Sravan Dasoju reiterated that the HYDRAA mining scam required a thorough investigation. He urged the government to order a CBI inquiry and take strict action against those responsible.
