Hyderabad: The Prime Minister will dedicate railway projects Telangana worth around ₹1,535 crore on 10 May 2026. The projects will strengthen rail connectivity and improve operational efficiency. In addition, they will enhance passenger and freight movement across key routes.
He will inaugurate multiple works aimed at modernising major corridors. Moreover, Indian Railways designed these projects to reduce congestion and improve punctuality. The initiative will also support faster and safer travel for passengers.
The main component includes 118 km of multi-tracking on the Kazipet–Vijayawada corridor. This stretch covers Warangal–Kazipet, Nekonda–Mahabubabad and Errupalem–Dornakal Junction sections. As a result, capacity will increase across this busy route.
The corridor forms part of the Grand Trunk route. Therefore, it carries heavy passenger and freight traffic between northern and southern India. The upgrade will improve train movement across Telangana and neighbouring states.
Railway projects Telangana to enhance capacity and reduce congestion
The multi-tracking project will expand line capacity on saturated sections. Consequently, train operations will become smoother and faster. It will also reduce delays and improve overall punctuality.
Furthermore, freight services will benefit from reduced detention times. The upgraded corridor will support movement of coal, cement, fertilizers and agricultural goods. Thus, industries and farmers will gain from improved logistics efficiency.
The Prime Minister will also dedicate the 21 km Kazipet Rail Under Rail Bypass. This project aims to decongest Kazipet Junction. In addition, it will enable simultaneous train movement towards Hyderabad, Balharshah and Vijayawada.
The bypass will reduce crossing conflicts at the junction. Therefore, waiting times will decrease for both passenger and freight trains. It will also strengthen connectivity on the Delhi–Chennai route.
These railway projects Telangana will benefit districts including Hanumakonda, Warangal, Mahabubabad and Khammam. Moreover, improved connectivity will support economic activity across the region. The projects will enhance reliability for long-distance travellers.
Indian Railways stated that the upgrades will create a high-capacity network. In addition, the developments will improve passenger convenience. Ultimately, the initiatives will strengthen regional connectivity and support economic growth.
