Hyderabad: Telangana Tourism, Culture and Excise Minister Jupally Krishna Rao challenged BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao to a public debate on Telangana debt figures. He rejected the opposition leader’s allegations against the Congress government. He also said he would resign as an MLA if his Telangana debt figures proved incorrect.
Addressing a press conference at the CLP media centre in the Assembly, Jupally Krishna Rao appeared with MLAs Veerapalli Shankar and Rajesh Reddy. He accused K.T. Rama Rao of misleading the public with false claims. He also denied the allegation that the government allocated ₹200 crore for the Chief Minister’s camp office.
The Minister alleged that the previous BRS government accumulated debt exceeding ₹8 lakh crore. Therefore, he invited K.T. Rama Rao to debate the figures publicly before the people.
Telangana debt figures fuel political row
Jupally Krishna Rao said the Congress government had nothing to hide. Moreover, he said the government would openly explain the state’s financial position. He urged K.T. Rama Rao to stop making what he called baseless allegations.
The Minister expressed confidence that Congress would retain power after the next Telangana Assembly elections. Meanwhile, he said voters would judge the government on facts and performance instead of political accusations.
