Hyderabad: Telangana Government Advisor and former minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir reviewed a ₹5-crore school redevelopment plan during a visit to his alma mater in Kamareddy on Monday.
Shabbir Ali visited the Zilla Parishad Boys High School, where he studied in 1971. He inspected the old building and reviewed plans to replace it with a modern structure.
The proposed school redevelopment will provide modern classrooms, laboratories and digital facilities. The project also aims to improve educational infrastructure in line with current standards.
Shabbir Ali had raised the school’s requirements with Chief Minister and helped secure ₹5 crore for the development works. He said the project would focus on better facilities for present and future students.
During the visit, he inspected the old school building and spent time in the classroom where he had studied. He also met former students and classmates on the school premises.
Shabbir Ali recalled his school days and said he had wanted to contribute to the institution for many years.
“This is the school where I studied. It is not just an educational institution for me, but the place where the foundation of my life was laid,” he said.
He added that his journey began at the school and that he had always wanted to support its development.
The former minister also described his meeting with former classmates as a memorable experience. He recalled their teachers, childhood experiences and school days together.
Modern facilities planned under school redevelopment
The new building will include modern laboratories, computer labs and digital classrooms. In addition, the project will provide other educational infrastructure needed by students.
Shabbir Ali said he would also provide financial support from his own resources wherever necessary. He said the school redevelopment would help the institution meet present-day educational needs.
However, he acknowledged the emotional significance of replacing the old building. The existing structure holds memories of his childhood and school years.
“The building will change, but the memories this school has given me will never change,” he said.
Former students welcomed Shabbir Ali’s efforts to secure funds for the institution. They also appreciated his plans to improve facilities for current and future students.
During the programme, Shabbir Ali interacted with former students and enquired about their well-being. He also recalled shared experiences from their time at the school.
Municipal Chairperson Umarani Srinivas, town Congress president Aireni Sandeep, Library Chairman Maddi Chandrakanth Reddy, Kailasa Srinivas, Mohammed Ilyas and Pandla Raju attended the programme.
Former students and other local representatives also participated in the event. The proposed school redevelopment will replace the old structure while preserving the institution’s role in the educational journey of generations of students.
