New Delhi: Aadhaar App has crossed 4 crore downloads, marking a major milestone in the adoption of digital identity services across the country.
The app allows residents to update addresses, mobile numbers and email IDs from home. It also offers biometric lock and unlock, along with e-Aadhaar downloads through a single digital platform.
Since its launch, the Aadhaar App has enabled 11.65 lakh address updates. In addition, nearly 49 lakh residents have updated their mobile numbers through the application.
UIDAI introduced the email update feature on July 1. Since then, around 12.5 lakh residents have added or updated their email addresses. Moreover, UIDAI has waived the earlier ₹75 fee for this service until December 31, 2026.
Aadhaar App records strong use of security features
Residents have used the biometric lock and unlock feature more than 1.91 crore times. As a result, Aadhaar holders can protect their biometric information with greater control and convenience.
The feature lets users instantly lock or unlock their biometrics whenever required. Consequently, it adds another layer of privacy and security to Aadhaar authentication.
The Aadhaar App also supports identity sharing and verification while promoting digital-first services. Furthermore, UIDAI said the platform contributes to ease of living and supports the Digital India Mission and the vision of Viksit Bharat.
