Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) challenged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to explain what he described as the government’s failure to fulfil employment promises in Telangana. Addressing the Yuva Sangrama Sabha in Hyderabad on Friday, KTR alleged that the Congress government had betrayed unemployed youth after coming to power.
KTR recalled the Congress Youth Declaration, which Rahul Gandhi unveiled at the same venue before the Assembly elections. Moreover, he questioned the status of promises, including two lakh government jobs, a Job Calendar, a ₹4,000 monthly unemployment allowance, interest-free loans for youth and electric scooters for college girls.
He also questioned Rahul Gandhi’s silence over the alleged police action against unemployed youth protesting for jobs. Therefore, KTR accused the Congress government of failing to honour its election commitments while claiming to protect democratic values.
The BRS leader alleged that the Congress government had delivered “no notifications, only lootifications.” Furthermore, he claimed the state was witnessing a “scam calendar” instead of a governance calendar. He also alleged that employment generation had taken a back seat under the present administration.
KTR Rahul Gandhi row centres on recruitment claims
KTR challenged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to prove the government’s claim that it had filled 70,000 government jobs through fresh recruitment notifications. He said he would retire from politics if the Chief Minister produced evidence supporting the claim.
Highlighting the previous BRS government’s record, KTR said it had initiated recruitment for more than 2.32 lakh government posts and filled around 1.62 lakh jobs. He also claimed the government had facilitated nearly 27 lakh public and private employment opportunities. However, he acknowledged that the TSPSC paper leak should have been handled more swiftly.
KTR said he would continue supporting unemployed youth and fight democratically for their rights. Finally, he said a future BRS government under K. Chandrashekar Rao would prioritise transparent recruitment, introduce a comprehensive Job Calendar and focus on employment generation.
