New Delhi: The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) said its stress management project for police personnel reached 35,704 individuals, marking a significant public health impact.
The institute launched the stress management project during the pandemic to address mental health concerns among police staff. Therefore, it focused on awareness, prevention and treatment through Ayurveda.
AIIA Director Prof. Pradeep Kumar Prajapati said mental health formed the foundation of individual well-being and social functioning. He cited the World Health Organization’s definition to stress the importance of mental balance.
The project was led by Prof. Medha Kulkarni and co-led by Prof. Meena Deogade. In addition, the team developed a mobile application to support stress management practices.
Officials said police personnel often faced intense physical and psychological pressure. As a result, the initiative aimed to provide holistic and preventive care using Ayurvedic methods.

Under the stress management project, the team organised 206 camps to assess health conditions. These camps screened 7,752 personnel for stress, hypertension and related issues.
Out of those screened, 1,843 personnel received Ayurvedic treatment, including therapies such as Shirodhara. Moreover, the Delhi Police Welfare Division supported the initiative by providing venues.
Officials said the response to the stress management project showed measurable improvements in mental health outcomes. Therefore, they described it as a successful intervention.
A dissemination workshop was held on March 24, 2026, to share findings. It was attended by officials including IPS officer Atul Katiyar and representatives from the Ministry of AYUSH.
Experts delivered lectures on stress management techniques and occupational health. Meanwhile, the event highlighted the role of Ayurveda in addressing stress among high-risk professions.
