Ahmedabad: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah distributed land allotment certificates to 205 displaced families of Nava Vanjar village in Ahmedabad.
During the programme, Shah said the move reflected the Modi government’s commitment to long-term rehabilitation. He said earlier governments had settled these families temporarily and left them without certainty.
However, Shah said the present government traced the displaced families and ensured permanent ownership through land title deeds. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and other dignitaries attended the event.
Shah said rapid urbanisation had turned villages into city wards. As a result, civic challenges had grown over time.

Meanwhile, Shah said Ahmedabad implemented a permanent sewage disposal system across nine wards. He said the project benefited nearly 15 lakh people living in about 4,500 colonies.
He said the ₹400 crore project included a Sewage Treatment Plant and the Western Trunk Line. Importantly, officials used micro-tunneling technology for the first time in Asia. Therefore, workers laid pipelines underground without disturbing traffic.
Shah said the project drew funds from the AMRUT scheme, Gujarat government initiatives and the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. As a result, the city received a lasting solution to a long-pending problem.
Referring to political criticism, Shah said opposition leaders often questioned repeated electoral defeats. He added that welfare programmes and infrastructure projects explained public support for the BJP.
Moreover, Shah said public representatives must solve people’s problems even before demands arise. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi established this work culture in Gujarat.
Similarly, Shah said coordinated efforts helped complete sewerage facilities for 15 lakh people. He added that the Centre, the state and the civic body worked with shared responsibility.
Finally, Shah said the BJP would return to power in 2029 under Modi’s leadership. He added that the opposition continued to oppose popular decisions, which weakened its public appeal.
