Amit Shah launched National IED Data Platform to strengthen counter-terror shield

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday launched the National IED Data Platform, calling it a major technology-driven step to strengthen India’s counter-terror response.

The National Security Guard developed the digital system to collect, analyse, and share data on Improvised Explosive Devices in a structured manner. Officials said the platform improves coordination between central and state agencies and supports intelligence-led operations. As a result, security forces can identify threats faster and respond with greater precision.

Speaking at the launch, Amit Shah said the initiative would help build a strong deterrence framework against bomb attacks linked to terrorism, insurgency, and organised crime. He stressed that real-time intelligence sharing and advanced data analysis were essential to counter evolving terror tactics.

National IED Data Platform to boost intelligence coordination

Amit Shah said the National IED Data Platform captures detailed information on IED design, components, triggering methods, and usage patterns. Therefore, security agencies can study trends and understand emerging threats more clearly.

He highlighted the National Security Guard’s role in strengthening the country’s internal security framework. According to him, the launch showed the government’s focus on using technology to stay ahead of terror networks.

Officials said agencies across India would connect to the platform in a phased manner. The Home Minister added that data-driven coordination would improve preparedness and help security forces prevent attacks before execution, thereby reinforcing national security.
