Ponnam Prabhakar launches Arrive Alive campaign, stresses road safety

Hyderabad: Ponnam Prabhakar launched the Arrive Alive campaign to strengthen road safety measures across Telangana.

He released the campaign poster at the Khairatabad Transport Department office under the Praja Palana Pragathi initiative. Senior officials, including Vikas Raj and Ilambarthi, attended the event.

Addressing the gathering, the minister said the Police and Transport Departments will jointly conduct the Arrive Alive campaign from April 13 to 18. The programme aims to identify accident causes and raise awareness about traffic rules.

Arrive Alive campaign focuses on accident prevention

He said officials will review implementation across districts over six days. Moreover, the initiative targets accident reduction and improved public safety through coordinated enforcement.

The minister highlighted the importance of the “golden hour” in saving accident victims. He said hospitals can admit injured persons promptly, making them eligible for the Rahaveer Award. At the same time, authorities will enforce traffic rules strictly and promote environmentally responsible practices.

He added that the department will organise awareness programmes in schools to educate students on road safety. Meanwhile, Telangana State Road Transport Corporation will honour drivers who complete 30 years of service without accidents.

Officials will also conduct road safety meetings in every district. In addition, the department continues reforms such as removing check posts to improve efficiency and reduce delays.

On the ongoing RTC strike, the minister said a committee is reviewing the merger proposal. However, he added that the government remains open to discussions and has already released pending Dearness Allowance.

He further stated that the government is examining the Pay Revision Commission and will address employee concerns in a phased manner.
