New Delhi: Bharat Taxi services will launch from January 1 in Delhi, marking the country’s first cooperative-based cab platform under the Union Ministry of Cooperation, officials announced.
The Centre said the new platform would operate on lines similar to private aggregators such as Uber, Ola and Rapido. However, it will function under a cooperative model to provide better earnings for drivers and lower costs for passengers. After the Delhi rollout, authorities plan to expand Bharat Taxi services across the country.
The Bharat Taxi app will offer auto, cab and bike ride options. Officials confirmed that all operational arrangements are complete. The app will be available on both Android and iOS platforms, allowing users to register using their mobile numbers.
Bharat Taxi services promise zero service charge model
The Centre said Bharat Taxi services would not levy service charges on passengers. As a result, travellers are expected to benefit from fares lower than existing cab charges. Officials added that drivers would receive 100 percent of the ride earnings through the platform.
According to the government, around 56,000 drivers have already registered on the Bharat Taxi app. Drivers will operate on the platform by paying only a minimal nominal fee. Authorities said the cooperative model aims to create a regulated and driver-friendly alternative in the ride-hailing sector.
The Centre said the initiative would strengthen cooperative participation in the digital mobility space while ensuring affordable and transparent transport services for passengers.
