Hyderabad: Telangana Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha directed irrigation officials to begin immediate canal breach repair work in Sangareddy district after conducting a field inspection on Sunday. The minister examined the damaged section of the Rajanarsingh main canal alongside District Collector P. Praveena in Isojupet village.
The structural breach affected the irrigation canal within Palkal mandal, disrupting water supply under the Singur irrigation project. Minister Rajanarasimha instructed department officials to prioritise restoration efforts to prevent extended disruption to farming operations across the region.
During the site visit, the minister emphasised minimising inconvenience to farmers who rely on the canal system for agricultural irrigation. He stressed that repair teams must work efficiently to restore regular water distribution to affected farming areas without further delay.
Canal breach repair operations intensify amid monsoon concerns
The minister issued additional directives to irrigation and revenue department officials to increase monitoring of vulnerable canal sections during the heavy monsoon season. He ordered comprehensive surveillance of the irrigation network to identify potential weak points before they develop into major structural failures.
The Singur project provides essential water resources to agricultural communities across multiple mandals in Sangareddy district. Officials received instructions to conduct systematic assessments of canal infrastructure to detect deterioration early and prevent similar canal breach repair emergencies in the future.
