Seized narcotics disposal keeps contraband out of trafficking network

The CBN said it destroys seized narcotic drugs in line with applicable provisions and prescribed procedures. According to the agency, this ensures seized contraband does not re-enter the illicit drug trafficking network. The agency also said incineration takes place in an environmentally safe manner.

The CBN said it takes a comprehensive approach to combating illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs. This approach covers intelligence-based enforcement and seizure of contraband. It also covers investigation and prosecution, along with timely disposal of seized narcotic substances in accordance with law.

The agency said it remains firmly committed to its mandate. That mandate involves concerted efforts towards a Drug-Free India. The CBN also said it is strengthening the fight against illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
