CCI clears Nxtra Data stake acquisition by Alpha Wave Ventures

New Delhi: The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has approved the proposed Nxtra Data acquisition by Alpha Wave Ventures II, LP through a primary subscription of equity shares, clearing the transaction under competition regulations.

The regulator announced the approval on Monday. However, it did not disclose the size of the stake or the financial details of the investment.

Nxtra Data operates in the data centre colocation services sector in India. The company provides infrastructure that supports enterprise data storage and digital operations.

Meanwhile, Alpha Wave Ventures II is a private equity fund. Alpha Wave Ventures GP manages the fund through a joint venture between Alpha Wave Global and Lunate Holding RSC Ltd.

The approval allows the parties to move ahead with the transaction. However, they must follow the agreed terms and applicable regulations.

Nxtra Data acquisition strengthens data centre investment

The clearance comes as demand for data centre services continues to grow across India. Businesses are increasing investments in cloud services, digital infrastructure and data management solutions.

As a result, investors continue to show interest in the sector. Data centres have become critical for supporting digital transformation and rising internet usage.

Furthermore, the investment highlights growing confidence in India’s digital infrastructure market. Industry participants expect demand for data storage and colocation services to remain strong.

CCI said it will issue a detailed order on the transaction at a later stage. The order will outline the commission’s assessment of the proposed investment.
