Medical device GTE exemption list open for stakeholder comments till July 15

New Delhi: The Department of Pharmaceuticals has invited stakeholder comments on proposed amendments to the GTE exemption list for medical devices and set July 15, 2026, as the deadline for submissions.

The move follows a public notice issued on February 11, 2026, seeking feedback on the existing GTE exemption list. Subsequently, the department received multiple representations from stakeholders requesting additions, deletions and modifications to various entries.

Officials said the proposed changes aim to review and update the exemption framework based on industry requirements and market developments. Therefore, the department has decided to place the proposals in the public domain for wider consultation.

Stakeholders can submit feedback on GTE exemption list

The department has requested comments from domestic manufacturers, importers, industry associations, procurement agencies and healthcare institutions. In addition, stakeholders may submit supporting information along with their recommendations.

The consultation process seeks to ensure transparency and encourage broader participation from all segments of the medical devices sector. Furthermore, the feedback received will help policymakers assess the impact of the proposed amendments.

Interested stakeholders must submit their comments through the designated email channels on or before July 15, 2026. The department will review the responses before taking a final decision on the proposed changes.

The GTE exemption list plays an important role in medical device procurement by identifying categories that qualify for exemption from global tender enquiries. Consequently, any revision to the list could influence procurement practices and opportunities for domestic manufacturers.
