CEO orders faster progency mapping survey in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Electoral Officer Sudarshan Reddy on Saturday directed officials to expedite the ongoing progency mapping survey in Hyderabad, stressing strict adherence to Election Commission guidelines ahead of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

He issued the instructions during a surprise inspection in Secunderabad Assembly constituency. Hyderabad District Election Officer R.V. Karnan accompanied him. The CEO first visited Polling Station No. 211 at Manikeshwar Nagar. Later, he inspected Polling Station No. 12 in the Charminar Assembly constituency.

During the visit, Reddy interacted with Booth Level Officers and supervisors. He assessed their understanding of the progency mapping survey and reviewed the methodology adopted on the ground. He also sought details on the progress made so far across polling stations.

Officials informed him that teams were conducting door-to-door verification. They were comparing entries from the 2002 electoral roll with the 2025 draft roll. As part of the exercise, they were collecting details of family members of voters listed in 2002. They were cross-checking these details with the current roll to ensure inclusion wherever eligible.
