The leadership assessed fiscal discipline and borrowing plans. They also examined resource mobilisation strategies before the document was finalised for tabling.
The Chief Minister sought clarifications on major policy announcements. He reviewed how funds were distributed across departments. He also examined whether allocations aligned with the government’s development agenda. The Deputy Chief Minister shared inputs on priority sectors.
Budget books review completed before Finance Minister’s speech
After completing the Budget books review, the Finance Minister proceeded to the Assembly to present the Budget. Officials ensured that printed copies and statutory documents were ready for circulation among members.
The pre-presentation exercise forms part of established procedure. It allows the executive leadership to take final stock of fiscal proposals. Moreover, it ensures coordination between political leadership and senior officials. The review helps avoid procedural lapses during tabling.
The meeting assumed importance as it preceded the introduction of the annual financial statement in the House. The government aimed to present a structured fiscal roadmap. Therefore, the Budget books review served as the final administrative check before legislative scrutiny began.
