Hyderabad: BRS MLC and state spokesperson Dasoju Sravan alleged Congress double standards in disciplinary action involving party leaders. He questioned the party leadership over its handling of internal disputes and remarks by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
Sravan accused Revanth Reddy of betraying Backward Classes and the Telangana movement. He also questioned the action taken against Congress leader Surekha while the Chief Minister faced no similar disciplinary action.
He referred to reported remarks by Revanth Reddy about retaining the Chief Minister’s post for 10 years. Sravan cited the remarks while questioning the party’s approach to discipline.
Sravan also criticised the Congress high command’s handling of internal disputes and candidate-related matters. He alleged that Revanth Reddy had unilaterally announced Revuri Prakash Reddy as the Congress candidate for Parkal.
At the same time, Sravan said the AICC had intervened to resolve ticket-related issues in other constituencies. He cited this contrast as evidence of Congress double standards in decision-making.
He also questioned disciplinary proceedings against senior leader Katti Venkataswamy. Sravan accused TPCC Disciplinary Committee chairman Mallu Ravi of applying different standards while dealing with party leaders.
In particular, he questioned the treatment of the Komatireddy brothers. Sravan sought action over allegations concerning “gun culture”, irregularities and other issues raised against Congress leaders.
Congress double standards questioned over inquiries
Turning to political funding, Sravan defended the ₹1,489 crore received by the BRS through electoral bonds. He described the funds as officially recorded and transparent.
Meanwhile, Sravan challenged Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy to open a debate on various financial allegations. These included alleged benami assets, land transactions, cryptocurrency transactions and other financial matters.
Sravan further accused Ponguleti of invoking former MLC K. Kavitha’s name to divert attention from other controversies. He linked the allegation to what he described as failures of the Congress government.
He also referred to alleged land-related controversies and corruption claims against the minister. However, these remained allegations made by the BRS leader in his criticism of Congress leadership.
Sravan demanded a comprehensive inquiry into allegations involving land scams, “gun culture” and commission-based corruption. He said the inquiry should remain focused on alleged wrongdoing rather than political exchanges.
He maintained that Congress double standards in disciplinary matters had raised questions about how the party treated different leaders. Therefore, he demanded accountability from the Congress leadership over the issues he raised.
Sravan said the Congress leadership should answer the public instead of restricting such disputes to the party’s internal forums.
