Delhi fog advisory disrupts flights as visibility drops

New Delhi: Airlines issued a Delhi fog advisory on Monday after dense fog reduced visibility at the national capital’s airport, forcing adjustments to flight operations and raising the risk of delays across Delhi-NCR.

IndiGo Airlines said visibility around the airport remained low due to changing weather conditions, prompting operational changes. The carrier warned that some departures could take longer than usual and urged passengers to factor in extra time for their journeys. IndiGo added that its ground teams were available to assist travellers and said safety would remain its top priority as conditions evolved.

The warning came as the region continued to battle toxic air quality, which stayed in the ‘severe-plus’ category. Poor air and weather conditions together affected normal movement across roads, with commuters reporting slower traffic during the morning hours.

IndiGo also cautioned that foggy conditions could slow road traffic leading to the airport. It advised passengers to plan cautiously and monitor updates, saying departures would continue as visibility improved.

Air India issued a similar alert, stating that poor visibility caused by dense fog was impacting flight operations in Delhi and parts of northern India. The airline asked passengers to check their flight status before leaving for the airport as disruptions could continue through the day.
