Dharmendra Pradhan reviews key education schemes and initiatives

New Delhi: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan chaired an Education schemes review meeting in New Delhi on January 1 to assess the progress and impact of major initiatives of the Ministry of Education.

The minister reviewed schemes and programmes implemented by the Department of School Education and Literacy and the Department of Higher Education. Moreover, senior officials briefed him on implementation status, timelines, and measurable outcomes.

During the Education schemes review, officials discussed flagship programmes, policy reforms, and digital education initiatives. In addition, the meeting covered teacher capacity-building efforts, student support mechanisms, and institutional strengthening measures.

The minister examined both ongoing and upcoming initiatives. Therefore, he stressed the need for better inter-departmental coordination and timely delivery to improve results on the ground.

Shri Pradhan underlined that students remained at the centre of all education planning and policy decisions. He said every scheme must lead to clear learning outcomes, improved access, greater equity, better quality, and higher employability.

Education schemes review focused on NEP 2020 vision

Highlighting the National Education Policy 2020, the minister called for a holistic and inclusive education ecosystem. He added that the system must remain future-ready while aligning with India’s civilisational values and global best practices.

The minister also emphasised continuous monitoring and innovation in programme implementation. Meanwhile, he called for stronger stakeholder engagement and closer collaboration with States and institutions.

Shri Pradhan reiterated that education played a critical role in building a Viksit Bharat. Therefore, he said nurturing young minds through quality education remained essential for the country’s long-term progress.

Secretary, Department of School Education, Sanjay Kumar, and Secretary, Department of Higher Education, Vineet Joshi, attended the meeting. Senior officials from both departments also participated in the review.
