Dr. M. Ramesh assumes charge as Cyberabad police commissioner

Hyderabad: Dr. M. Ramesh, IPS, assumed charge as the Cyberabad police commissioner on Monday, marking a leadership transition in one of Telangana’s key policing jurisdictions.

A 2005-batch IPS officer, Dr. Ramesh succeeded Avinash Mohanty as the Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad. Before this posting, he served as Inspector General of Police, Provisioning and Logistics. He also held full additional charge as IGP of the Police Transport Organization.

After taking charge, Dr. Ramesh said the foremost responsibility of the Cyberabad Police would be to uphold the rule of law. He stressed the need for impartial and fair treatment of all citizens. He underlined professionalism, transparency, and people-centric policing as core principles of the force.

He said maintaining law and order would remain the primary focus of all police activities. According to him, this approach was essential to ensure a safe and secure environment for residents across the Cyberabad commissionerate.

Dr. Ramesh also highlighted traffic management as a major priority area. He directed officers to conduct regular and strict checks against drunk driving. He said effective traffic enforcement was critical to reducing accidents and improving road safety.

Cyberabad police commissioner outlines New Year policing priorities

Referring to the upcoming New Year celebrations, Dr. Ramesh issued clear instructions to ensure incident-free and accident-free festivities. He asked officers to remain alert and proactive during celebrations, especially in public places and high-footfall areas.

He emphasised that preventive measures and visible policing would play a key role during the festive period. He also urged officers to respond promptly to any situation that could disturb public order.

Dr. Ramesh said the Cyberabad Police should actively consider feedback from citizens while performing their duties. He noted that public cooperation and trust were vital for effective policing. He encouraged officers to stay accessible and responsive to public concerns.

The Cyberabad Police Commissionerate covers several rapidly growing urban and IT corridors. Senior officers said the new commissioner’s experience in administration and logistics would help strengthen operational efficiency.

With the change in leadership, the Cyberabad Police is expected to focus on disciplined enforcement, citizen safety, and smoother traffic management, especially during high-pressure periods such as festivals and major public events.
