Hyderabad: Former minister and BRS Deputy Floor Leader T. Harish Rao demanded the immediate removal of genuine farmers’ properties from the 22-A prohibited list. He raised the farmers lands 22-A issue during a BRS protest at Koutala in the Sirpur-Kagaznagar region.
Harish Rao alleged that 42,867 acres had entered the prohibited list across seven mandals. He said thousands of acres belonging to farmers faced restrictions because authorities placed them under 22-A provisions.
The BRS leader also demanded an inquiry into how the lands entered the list. According to him, the restrictions had created serious problems for farmers who depended on their properties.
Harish Rao said affected farmers could not secure bank loans against the listed properties. Moreover, they faced limits on property transactions and could not freely use their land for their needs.
He said the figures showed a wide spread of affected land across the region. Koutala accounted for 6,350 acres, while Chintalamanepally had 8,878 acres on the list.
Bejjur accounted for 8,325 acres, while Kagaznagar had 6,690 acres. In addition, Sirpur-T had 4,406 acres and Penchikalpet had 2,950 acres.
Dahegaon accounted for another 5,268 acres, based on the figures presented by Harish Rao. Together, the seven mandals accounted for the reported 42,867 acres.
Farmers lands 22-A dispute raises Revenue Department questions
Harish Rao accused the Congress government of adopting different standards over properties included in the 22-A list. He questioned the process used to place farmers’ lands under restrictions.
“If Revanth Reddy’s own property could be removed from the 22-A list overnight, why can’t the lands of poor farmers be removed?” he asked.
The BRS leader sought immediate action to identify and remove genuine farmers’ properties from the prohibited list. He also called for an investigation into the circumstances behind their inclusion.
Harish Rao further sought accountability from Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy over the controversy. He questioned the minister’s claim that not even a single acre had entered the prohibited properties list.
He contrasted that claim with his own figures, which showed 42,867 acres across seven mandals. Therefore, he said the government needed to explain the difference and clarify the status of the affected lands.
The former minister also linked the issue to the Congress government’s wider record in office. He alleged that the government had failed to fulfil several promises during what he described as nearly 1,000 days in office.
In particular, Harish Rao raised concerns over commitments involving Rythu Bharosa and Kalyana Lakshmi. He also accused the government of failing to fulfil promises linked to KCR Kits and Dalit Bandhu.
The BRS protest at Koutala focused mainly on the 22-A restrictions affecting farmers. Harish Rao reiterated his demand for the removal of genuine farmers’ properties and called for proper verification before any further action.
He maintained that the farmers lands 22-A dispute required transparent verification and accountability. He said eligible farmers should not face restrictions because of errors or disputed entries in official land records.
