GHMC Commissioner urges officers to understand departmental functions after reorganisation

Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner R. V. Karnan on Monday advised newly appointed Additional Commissioners and Zonal Commissioners to gain a comprehensive understanding of departmental functions to ensure effective and coordinated civic administration.

The Commissioner’s remarks came in the backdrop of GHMC reorganisation, which expanded the civic body from six zones to 12 zones and from 30 circles to 60 circles. In this context, the corporation organised an orientation programme titled “Overview of Wings and Core Functions” at the GHMC Head Office.

Officials said the programme aimed to familiarise newly inducted officers with the structure, responsibilities, and performance of various GHMC wings. As part of the initiative, senior officials from key departments made detailed presentations to the officers.

Representatives from Engineering and Infrastructure, Health and Sanitation, Revenue and Planning, Administration and Support, and Urban Services and Development explained their roles and performance parameters. In addition, departmental heads responded to queries raised by the Additional Commissioners and Zonal Commissioners.
