GHMC wards delimitation unscientific, allege BRS MLAs

Hyderabad: BRS MLAs on Monday alleged that the GHMC wards delimitation exercise was carried out in an unscientific manner and demanded an immediate review, warning of legal action if constitutional norms were ignored.

Party leaders met GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan and submitted a representation objecting to the process. They said the exercise violated established rules and failed to consider public opinion and stakeholder inputs.

The leaders said they would approach the court if the delimitation was not carried out in accordance with constitutional provisions. They stressed that such a major administrative exercise required transparency and adherence to statutory guidelines.

MLC Dasoju Shravan and MLA Talasani Srinivas Yadav criticised the decision to increase the number of wards to 300 without public consultation. They said the civic administration lacked adequate manpower even to manage the existing divisions.

BRS raises representation concerns over ward restructuring

Former minister Mallareddy expressed concern over reduced political representation in Medchal district following the proposed changes. He said the restructuring would weaken public representation and strain local governance.

BRS leaders argued that ward restructuring should ensure equitable representation and administrative feasibility. They warned that arbitrary changes could create imbalances across districts.

The party demanded an immediate review of the GHMC wards delimitation process and urged the authorities to follow constitutional and legal norms. They said failure to do so would force them to seek legal remedies.
