Hyderabad: Harish Rao criticism intensified on Tuesday as the former minister and Siddipet MLA alleged that Telangana was witnessing broker-driven governance rather than people’s administration under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
Addressing the media at Telangana Bhavan, Harish Rao said the state government functioned on the advice of “Bombay brokers”. He alleged that the Revanth Reddy government was the only administration in the world to appoint consultants solely to arrange loans.
The BRS leader claimed the government had earlier paid Rs 180 crore as commission to a broker firm for facilitating Rs 10,000 crore in borrowings. He alleged that the same consultancy now advised plans to divide the GHMC into three units to raise another Rs 30,000 crore.
Harish Rao alleged that the government resorted to diversion politics whenever it faced pressure. He cited leaks related to phone tapping cases and the Formula-E race, claiming they surfaced whenever the administration came under scrutiny.
He further alleged misuse of police machinery to file illegal cases for political appeasement. He warned that officers acting beyond the law would face consequences, irrespective of retirement or transfers.
Harish Rao criticism after KCR press meet
Harish Rao criticism sharpened further after a press interaction by BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao. He said the Revanth Reddy government went into complete defence mode following the interaction.
He claimed he had never seen a Chief Minister hold late-night media briefings to justify governance failures. He alleged that ministers rushed to press conferences instead of answering questions raised on water diversion.
Harish Rao also criticised the government over food poisoning incidents in gurukul schools. He questioned whether beauty contests, football tournaments and global summits could replace basic welfare responsibilities.
On cooperative elections, he alleged the government avoided polls due to fear of defeat. He said more than 4,000 BRS-backed sarpanches had won recently, which unsettled the ruling party.
The Siddipet MLA accused the government of suppressing student voices during the Chief Minister’s visit to Osmania University. He alleged preventive arrests and heavy police deployment reflected fear.
He demanded longer Assembly sessions and sought an opportunity to respond to presentations on irrigation. He accused ministers of corruption in irrigation projects and challenged them to a public debate.
Harish Rao said he would not fear cases or intimidation. He stated that the BRS would continue exposing what he described as governance failures and diversion politics.
