Drunk driver hits and drags biker for 500 metres in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: A shocking hit and drag Bengaluru incident occurred on the night of December 24, when a drunk car driver collided with a biker and dragged him nearly 500 metres, police said.

The driver, 38-year-old Srinivas KV, was speeding while under the influence when he hit Rohit, riding a Royal Enfield bike, near Sumanahalli Flyover towards Nagarbhavi Circle around 7:15 pm. After the collision, the car carried the bike along the road for about half a kilometre.

Witnessing the accident, other motorists immediately stopped the car and rescued the biker. Police took the driver into custody shortly after.

Bengaluru hit and drag leaves biker severely injured

Rohit sustained severe injuries to his chest, legs, and hands and was admitted to a hospital for treatment. Authorities confirmed that the incident video has gone viral on social media.

Police registered a case against the driver and launched an investigation into the circumstances leading to the hit and drag Bengaluru accident. Authorities said they would probe potential charges of reckless driving under the influence of alcohol.

Officials reminded residents to exercise caution on busy city roads, especially during festive seasons, and warned of strict action against drunk driving. They urged witnesses of similar incidents to report them promptly.
