Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) clarified that Metro pillar safety remained intact after a major fire broke out near Ameerpet on June 4, 2026.
Officials said Metro Pillar No. A1043 suffered no structural damage despite its proximity to the fire at the KSR Fashions (Helmet Bazaar) shopping complex near Maitrivanam. HMRL issued the clarification after social media posts and some television channels claimed that cracks had developed in the pillar.
Engineers inspected the structure after the incident. They found no damage to the main concrete pillar. Officials said the metro infrastructure remained safe.
The fire raised concerns because the commercial building stood close to the metro structure. Consequently, rumours spread that the intense heat had weakened the pillar.

HMRL said the fire damaged only the vinyl advertisement sheets fixed to the pillar. The heat burned the advertising boards attached to the outer surface.
However, engineers found no cracks, defects or safety risks in the concrete structure. Officials stressed that the inspection confirmed the pillar’s stability.
HMRL urged people to avoid unverified information circulating on social media. The agency said engineers thoroughly examined Metro pillar safety after the incident.
Officials also confirmed that metro operations continued without disruption. They said the fire did not affect the structural integrity of Pillar A1043.
