Indian engineer found dead at Microsoft campus in Silicon Valley

Hyderabad: An Indian engineer working at Microsoft’s Silicon Valley campus in the United States died under mysterious circumstances last week. The victim, Prateek Pandey (35), was a software engineer at the company’s Mountain View office.

Local reports said Pandey entered the office premises on August 19. Colleagues discovered his body the next morning. His sudden death shocked co-workers and friends, many of whom shared tributes and condolences on social media.

Police rule out foul play, family seeks repatriation of body

The Mountain View Police said their preliminary assessment showed no suspicious evidence at the scene. Investigators ruled out foul play and added that the coroner’s examination would provide further details.

In India, Pandey’s family began efforts to bring his body back home. Friends and community members in the United States also offered support for the repatriation process.

The incident raised concern within the Indian tech diaspora, as Silicon Valley employs a large number of expatriate engineers. Social media posts mourning Pandey described him as a dedicated professional and a helpful colleague.

Officials confirmed that formalities for transporting the body to India were underway. They said the process would be completed in coordination with Indian authorities in California.
