Hyderabad: The Telangana government completed the allocation of 7,340 Indiramma housing flats across 16 Assembly constituencies within the Outer Ring Road limits on Monday.
The four-day allocation process began on August 28 and concluded on August 31. Revenue, Housing and Information Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy launched the process on August 28.
The government allocated 480 flats in each of 15 constituencies. However, the Secunderabad Cantonment constituency received 140 flats because the first phase had only 140 units.
A total of 60,720 applications came in for the 7,340 flats planned across the 16 constituencies. Officials first screened the applications to identify eligible beneficiaries.
They then conducted the lottery in the presence of officials and applicants. The four-day process followed an open and transparent procedure.
Applicants also expressed satisfaction with the way officials conducted the lottery. For families who secured homes, the allocation brought added cheer during the festive season.
The Housing Board processed applications for projects planned on available government land. These projects aimed to provide homes to families in the respective areas.
Meanwhile, authorities have begun the next stage of the housing process. They will conduct field verification of selected applicants before finalising the beneficiaries.
Indiramma housing flats move to field verification
The Housing Board has uploaded the names of lottery winners on its website. Selected applicants can also raise objections through the online system.
Officials will subsequently conduct field-level verification of the selected applicants. This process will check the information submitted by beneficiaries and confirm their eligibility.
Housing Board Vice-Chairman V.P. Gautam urged selected applicants to cooperate during the field inspections. He said the government wanted to ensure that only eligible beneficiaries received homes.
Applicants who did not secure a flat in the lottery should not lose hope, Gautam said. He added that the government would take up more housing projects.
The additional projects would create further opportunities for eligible families, according to Gautam. Construction of homes for eligible beneficiaries will continue as the government expands the housing programme.
The allocation process covered 16 constituencies within the Outer Ring Road limits. Authorities used the lottery system after receiving applications from thousands of prospective beneficiaries.
The government has also started accepting applications in four other constituencies. Notifications for the remaining constituencies are expected to follow soon.
The latest allocation marks a major step in the housing programme for eligible families. However, selected applicants must complete the field verification process before authorities confirm their eligibility.
