Hyderabad: Telangana Rakshana Sena chief Kavakuntla Kavitha made several allegations against BRS leader T. Harish Rao on Thursday. She claimed he was trying to gain control of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).
Speaking to the media at the Telangana Rakshana Sena office in Banjara Hills, Kavitha also alleged that Harish Rao sought to weaken the political legacy of former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. She compared the alleged move with what she described as N. Chandrababu Naidu’s betrayal of N.T. Rama Rao.
Kavitha claimed Harish Rao recently held discussions with BRS MLAs in Medak. She alleged that the discussions focused on ensuring K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s political legacy did not pass to K. T. Rama Rao (KTR).
She further alleged that Harish Rao maintained links with the BJP and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. According to Kavitha, those links were part of an effort to gain control of the BRS.
Kavitha said she had evidence of Harish Rao’s alleged links with the BJP. She also claimed that he frequently met a senior BJP leader at Raj Pushpa Villas in Hyderabad.
She alleged that Harish Rao and others held a secret meeting in London. According to her, the participants reached an understanding during that meeting.
Kavitha demanded that Revanth Reddy order Harish Rao’s arrest under provisions related to quid pro quo. She said such action should follow if authorities found an understanding between them.
She also raised allegations about milk supplies to private educational institutions and corporate hospitals during Harish Rao’s tenure as Health Minister. Kavitha claimed Narayana and Chaitanya educational institutions received milk worth Rs 25 crore every month.
She further alleged that the two institutions generated Rs 960 crore through those transactions over eight years.
Kavitha allegations widen to government decisions and Telangana interests
Kavitha allegations also covered milk supplies to corporate hospitals, including Kamineni, Yashoda and KIMS. She questioned Harish Rao over his reported support for mining-related issues linked to phone-tapping and Kaleshwaram.
Kavitha said the Chief Minister had earlier raised allegations against Harish Rao over those issues. However, she did not provide further details in the statement shown.
The Telangana Rakshana Sena chief also criticised Revanth Reddy over alleged links with leaders from Andhra Pradesh. She alleged that the Chief Minister had become a “captive” and was acting as an agent of Andhra Pradesh.
Kavitha accused the government of compromising Telangana’s interests. She objected to appointing people from Andhra Pradesh as chairman and vice-chairman of the Brahmin Parishad.
Referring to Basavaraju Srinivasa Raju, she alleged that the chairman was “staunchly anti-Telangana”. Kavitha questioned his appointment and cited his alleged opposition to Telangana during the statehood movement.
She also criticised the appointment of an Andhra woman to the Yadagirigutta board. Kavitha questioned the inclusion of people from Andhra Pradesh in managing a temple built with contributions from Telangana people.
Kavitha then referred to an alleged road accident involving the son of a Jana Sena MP. She alleged that the Chief Minister had failed to act after the youth allegedly drove a ₹6-crore car and fatally hit a 25-year-old woman from Odisha.
She further alleged that the MP’s name did not appear in the FIR. Kavitha also claimed that several columns in the case record remained blank.
Kavitha warned that she would not remain silent if the Chief Minister failed to protect Telangana’s interests. She said she would continue raising issues concerning the people of Telangana.
