Hyderabad: BRS announced an eight-day BRS agitation from September 1 to 8 against what it called 1,000 days of failed governance by the Congress government.
Former minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy announced the programme at Telangana Bhavan on Thursday. The party will begin the campaign on September 1 with the unveiling of its logo.
BRS leaders will also release a charge sheet against the Congress government. The document will list the party’s allegations against the state government.
On September 2, the programme will move to Assembly constituency headquarters across Telangana. BRS leaders will hold dharnas over the alleged non-implementation of six guarantees.
The party will also distribute “dues cards” during the protests. In addition, it will display a 420-foot flex banner as part of the campaign.
On September 3, the BRS agitation will focus on farmers’ concerns. The issues will include lands on the prohibited list under Section 22-A, irrigation and power supply.
The party will also raise concerns over urea availability and Rythu Bima. These issues will form a key part of the farmers’ programme.
BRS agitation to focus on welfare and youth
On September 4, the BRS will organise conventions for senior citizens, persons with disabilities and women. It will also conduct “Vanta-Varpu” protests.
The party will raise the alleged non-payment of the promised ₹2,500 monthly assistance to women. At the same time, it will highlight welfare schemes that it says the government discontinued or failed to implement.
Student and youth rallies will follow on September 5. The programmes will focus on fee reimbursement, a job calendar and implementation of the Youth Declaration.
Meanwhile, the party has planned protests in the CCI and Singareni regions on September 6. An auto-rickshaw rally will also form part of the day’s programme.
Alongside these protests, BRS leaders will conduct village-level programmes on civic issues. The party plans to take local concerns to residents through these programmes.
On September 7, BRS leaders will submit representations on the implementation of the party’s “420 promises”. They will approach district and mandal-level grievance centres with their representations.
Finally, the week-long programme will conclude on September 8. BRS leaders will hold a press conference at Ambedkar Statue to review the protests and representations.
Niranjan Reddy said the programmes would form part of the party’s campaign against the Congress government. The BRS will raise issues concerning farmers, women, students, youth and civic concerns during the campaign.
