Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruthi president Kalvakuntla Kavitha alleged an anti-Ambedkar stance by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and criticised policies affecting weaker sections on April 15.
She made the remarks during Ambedkar Jayanti events at Tank Bund. The United Forum for SC and ST Employees organised the programme. Moreover, leaders and participants attended in large numbers.
Kavitha said Dr. B R Ambedkar represented an enduring ideology. She urged the government to act responsibly and ensure justice for the poor. In addition, she stressed the need to protect the rights of marginalised communities.
She said Ambedkar supported women’s empowerment as a path to social progress. Furthermore, she noted that Article 3 of the Constitution enabled the formation of Telangana.
Anti-Ambedkar stance row over land and tribal issues
Kavitha alleged that authorities were acquiring assigned lands belonging to Dalits. She cited Velugumatla and Parigi as examples of such actions. Therefore, she demanded that the government stop these practices.
She also raised concerns over tribal displacement in forest regions. She alleged that governments were pressuring Chenchu families to vacate habitats in Nallamala. As a result, she warned that such actions could harm vulnerable communities.
Kavitha said Telangana Jagruthi would launch protests if authorities failed to act. Meanwhile, she called for stronger movements inspired by Ambedkar’s ideals.
She added that these movements should address public issues across the state. Thus, she urged people to uphold Ambedkar’s vision through collective action.
