Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) assured polytechnic students that their concerns would receive priority in the Assembly session from September 7. He said the party would seek a clear response to their demands.
A group of polytechnic students met KTR after travelling from KTR’s constituency, Mahatma Gandhi University. They submitted a representation covering several issues affecting their colleges and institutions.
The students raised concerns about polytechnic college lands and the future of their institutions. They also highlighted problems linked to the condition and direction of technical education in Telangana.
KTR assured the delegation that he would strongly raise the issues during the Assembly session. Moreover, he said he would continue pressing the matter until the government gave a clear response.
The BRS working president also sought clarity from the government on the demands raised by the students. He said their concerns required attention while discussing the future of technical education.
KTR assurance covers college land and technical education
KTR expressed concern over what he described as the government’s alleged interest in valuable land occupied by polytechnic colleges. Instead, he said authorities should prioritise the future of students and strengthen technical education.
He argued that protecting students’ interests should remain central when dealing with polytechnic institutions. At the same time, he stressed the need to improve technical education.
According to KTR, stronger technical education could help students develop better skills and practical experience. He also suggested reviewing systems used in countries such as Germany.
In particular, he cited dual education programmes, apprenticeships and practice-oriented learning as possible models. He said such approaches could strengthen technical skills while giving students greater practical exposure.
KTR said students did not need to worry about their concerns. He told the delegation that the BRS would raise their issues in the Assembly.
“There is no need for students to worry. The BRS will strongly raise your issues in the Assembly,” KTR told the delegation.
He reiterated that the polytechnic students’ concerns would be presented during the Assembly session. He also assured them that the BRS would seek a definite response from the government.
