KTR calls for vigilance during SIR voter revision

Hyderabad: K. T. Rama Rao on Thursday urged party cadres to stay alert during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Telangana.

Addressing leaders through a teleconference, the BRS working president said the revision process plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of voter lists. He stressed that party workers must actively monitor developments at the booth level.

The KTR calls for vigilance message focused on preventing irregularities and ensuring that genuine voters are not affected during the revision process.

KTR calls for vigilance over voter roll irregularities

He alleged that both the Congress and the BJP might attempt to manipulate electoral rolls. According to him, there is a risk of bogus votes being added or genuine voters being removed.

KTR pointed out that similar concerns had been raised in other states during voter list revisions. He claimed that opposition votes were deleted in large numbers in previous exercises conducted under the Election Commission framework.

Referring to past elections, including the Jubilee Hills by-election and municipal polls, he alleged that irregularities in voter registration had influenced outcomes.

He urged party workers to remain proactive and carefully verify changes in voter lists. Moreover, he asked them to ensure that only eligible voters are included.

Focus on booth-level monitoring and verification

Explaining the purpose of the SIR process, he said it is meant to correct errors and allow new eligible voters to register. However, he warned that misuse of the process could undermine electoral fairness.

KTR called on cadres to take responsibility at the grassroots level. He emphasised the need for booth-by-booth verification to identify discrepancies.

He also urged them to prevent the inclusion of fake or ineligible voters while ensuring that legitimate voters are protected. According to him, vigilance at every stage is essential to maintain transparency.

The KTR calls for vigilance appeal reflects growing political focus on electoral integrity in Telangana. Party leaders said strong monitoring would be key to ensuring a fair and transparent revision process.
