Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy predicts Congress victory in Jubilee Hills bypoll

Hyderabad: Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Thursday said the Congress party would win the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election with a clear mandate. He said all survey reports, both public and internal, indicated a Congress victory in the constituency.

During a door-to-door campaign in Krishna Nagar, Yusufguda division, Uttam Kumar Reddy said the win for Congress candidate Naveen Yadav was certain. He was joined by Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar. The minister accused the previous BRS government of neglecting the poor in Jubilee Hills for over a decade. “In ten years of BRS rule, not even one white ration card was given to the poor. That shows their indifference,” he said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy highlighted the Congress government’s achievements in the past 20 months. He said the government had sanctioned 40,000 new white ration cards in the Jubilee Hills constituency alone, directly benefiting poor families. Across Telangana, the total number of white ration cards rose from 89 lakh to over 1.15 crore.

He said the Congress government made history by launching a large-scale distribution of quality fine rice, benefiting 3.15 crore people. The initiative focused on SCs, STs, BCs, and minorities. He also cited the Mahalakshmi scheme, which offers free bus travel to women, and the Gruha Jyothi scheme, which provides 200 units of free electricity to eligible families. “These programmes have given real relief to lakhs of households,” he said.

Reddy criticised opposition parties, particularly the BRS and BJP, for spreading false propaganda. “The same parties that ignored the poor for ten years are now attacking a government that is delivering welfare,” he said. He added that the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka had won the people’s confidence, which would ensure a Congress victory in Jubilee Hills.

Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, who also addressed the gathering, alleged a covert alliance between the BJP and BRS. He urged voters to reject both parties. He also questioned the contributions of Union Minister and Secunderabad MP G. Kishan Reddy to the constituency. The campaign was attended by Shadnagar MLA K. Shankaraiah, TPCC Working President Mohammad Azharuddin, and other senior Congress leaders.
