Minority Affairs Ministry reviews preparations for 814th Urs at Dargah Khwaja Saheb

Rajasthan: The Ministry of Minority Affairs held a review meeting in Ajmer on Saturday to assess 814th Urs preparations at Dargah Khwaja Saheb, scheduled to begin on December 17, 2025.

The meeting focused on safety, security and convenience arrangements for Ziyareens expected to visit the shrine during the Urs. Officials stressed close coordination among all departments to ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of the annual religious event.

Ministry officials reviewed key arrangements, including CCTV surveillance at strategic points, drinking water supply, toilets, parking facilities and hygiene measures. They also examined crowd management plans and steps to remove stray animals from the Dargah Khwaja Saheb area.

The district administration informed the Ministry that it had initiated all required measures. Officials said they had instructed line departments to remain fully prepared throughout the Urs period.

As part of the field review, Ministry officials visited the Ashray Sthali, or Musafirkhana, under construction on about 150 bigha of land outside Ajmer. They assessed facilities being created to accommodate Ziyareens and ensure their comfort during the Urs.

The Ministry expressed satisfaction with the preparedness shared by the district administration. It also underlined the need for continuous monitoring to address issues promptly during the event.

Officials recalled that, as per tradition, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sends a Chadar every year for offering at Dargah Khwaja Saheb. They said the gesture reflected respect for India’s cultural and spiritual heritage.

The meeting was chaired by S. P. Singh Teotia, Director in the Ministry of Minority Affairs. District officials and representatives of Dargah Khwaja Saheb attended the review.
