Hyderabad: Advisor to the Telangana government Mohammed Ali Shabbir said the minority welfare budget allocation of Rs 3,769 crore reflects a strong push for inclusive growth and social justice.
He praised the Congress government led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu for presenting what he described as a pro-people budget for 2026-27.
Shabbir Ali said the minority welfare budget increased by Rs 178 crore compared to the previous year. He added that this rise shows the government’s continued focus on minority uplift.
Moreover, he highlighted targeted measures such as distribution of 10,000 sewing machines to minority women. He also noted skill development training for 4,655 minority youth to improve employability.
He said the budget places minorities at the centre of welfare planning. It focuses on education, entrepreneurship and financial independence.
In addition, he welcomed the Rs 6,000 crore allocation for the Rajiv Yuva Vikasam Scheme. He said the scheme will support youth from SC, ST, BC and minority communities to start businesses.
Minority welfare budget strengthens social justice initiatives
Shabbir Ali also praised the Young India Integrated Residential Schools initiative. He said the government is setting up 105 schools across Assembly constituencies to improve access to quality education.
He noted that 79 schools have already been sanctioned, while construction is underway at 44 locations. According to him, the project will provide skill-oriented education to students from all communities.
Furthermore, he highlighted that the government allocated over Rs 36,000 crore for SC, ST, BC and minority welfare. This includes Rs 11,784 crore for SCs, Rs 7,937 crore for STs and Rs 12,511 crore for BCs.
He said these allocations reflect the government’s commitment to social justice. He added that releasing pending SC/ST Sub-Plan funds will help reduce long-standing inequalities.
Shabbir Ali also said the budget balances welfare and development priorities. He credited Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka for focusing on farmers, youth and weaker sections.
He described the budget as part of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s vision for inclusive governance. He said it aims to ensure equal opportunities for all sections of society.
