New Delhi: National Energy Conservation Day 2025 will be observed across the country on December 14. Accordingly, a national-level event will take place at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. The programme aims to raise public awareness on energy conservation and, at the same time, highlight India’s progress in energy efficiency.
On the occasion, President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu will attend the event as the Chief Guest and address the gathering. She will then present the National Energy Conservation Awards (NECA) 2025. Further, she will felicitate the winners of the National Painting Competition on Energy Conservation 2025.
Meanwhile, Union Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs Shri Manohar Lal will also address the programme. In addition, Minister of State for Power Shri Shripad Naik will attend the event. Secretary, Ministry of Power Shri Pankaj Agarwal and Director General of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency Shri Dhiraj Kumar Shrivastava will also be present.
Notably, the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, functioning under the Ministry of Power, recognises outstanding contributions to energy conservation through the National Energy Conservation Awards. For this purpose, the bureau invited applications for NECA 2025 through an open advertisement. The approved categories included Industries, Transport, Buildings, Institutions, Appliances, Energy Conservation Professionals, Influencers and Content Creators, and Innovation.
As a result, the bureau received a total of 680 applications for NECA 2025. The awards cover 28 subsectors grouped under seven broad categories. Moreover, this year the bureau introduced a new category for Social Media Influencers and Digital Content Creators. The category aims to acknowledge their growing role in spreading awareness on energy conservation.
